How to Outsource Your Small Business Work

If you are a small business owner, you may not have the resources to pay people to work full time, or even part time, doing work for you.  There are ways to outsource many of your tasks to other people to free up extra time and save money and it can all be done online.  Use some of these tips on how to outsource extra work to professionals from all over the world.

If you own a brick and mortar small business, you can hire people to come to your store or business and perform tasks that you need done.  Unfortunately, this can be expensive because these people generally require higher compensation associated with travel time, gas, and working exclusively for you.  It also limits your employee options to people who are located in your direct area, and this can often make it difficult to find someone suitable to work for you.  If you own an online business, it is even harder to find someone to work for you locally because you do not have anywhere for them to physically go to work.

An alternative to hiring people from your local area to work for you is to outsource your work on the internet.  There are several ways that this can be done, depending on the quality of work and how fast you need the project completed.  It is possible to simply put a classified ad on various sites, such as Craigslist, and people will respond when they are interested in your advertisement.  This can help you find people in your general geographic area but who aren’t from the same exact town as you.  This could be especially helpful when you are looking to expand your talent pool but need someone who is familiar with the same part of the world.

There are also other websites that have been created specifically for outsourcing jobs to people from around the world, such as Fiverr, Freelancers, and oDesk.  Fiverr is a website that allows people to post any job that they are willing to do for five dollars.  If you need someone to create a logo, type up some forms, or advertise your website, this is a great place to start looking.  You can usually find some great deals that can help small businesses bring in more sales without spending a ton of money.  Other outsourcing websites, such as Freelancer, allow you to post a job that you need done and set how much you are willing to pay.  Freelancers will then bid on your project and you can pick who you would like to work on it.  The great thing about these sites is that you can do a background check on every applicant and see how well they ranked on previous projects.  This lets you quickly find the most qualified and cheapest employee for your business.

It is also possible to employ someone for a short term contract or for longer term projects.  If you only need someone to do some data entry, it is possible to hire a professional for a couple hours and get fast results. On the other hand, you can find people to work on more in-depth projects that could take weeks or months.  The skills of these professionals range from everything from website design, writing and blogging, data entry, or advanced app creation.  No matter what your need is, it is possible to find a qualified professional to do the work for you.

A great example of outsourcing your work at small tech startup companies that do not have the huge capitol to employ a large team of in-house specialists.  If a small company wanted to design and market a new smart phone application, they would need to hire someone to do the actual design and coding for the project.  To hire a full time worker, it would cost close to $100k a year to keep skilled designers on their team if they were to work in-house.  Hiring a part time employee could be an alternative, but it will take much longer for any progress to be made on the project.  The best alternative is to hire one or two people online who would be able to work from the comfort of their home and often charge much less.  Instead of signing a contract for a year with an employee, it is now possible to pay much less for a shorter period of time.  Once they have created the application for your company, you can decide if you would like them to continue to work on other projects or go your separate ways.  You can then turn to other online marketing professionals to build a website and advertise your new app.  By outsourcing your work online, it is possible to spend much less money while sticking to your project timeline, which helps to make you more profitable in the end.  No matter what type of business you are in, it is worth looking at alternative methods of outsourcing projects so your small business can be more successful.
