How to Highlight Your Howtoee Articles on Google Search Result Pages

I am sure you have noted that Google highlights some of the sites on Google search result pages by displaying the authors’ Google+ profile picture. That was a great idea from Google, because it attracts the searchers attention, and makes them click on the links.

If you still don’t know what I am talking about, please refer to Google and enter HowToee:

The picture you see at the left side of the third link on Google search result page is extracted from my Google+ profile.

If you have published articles on HowToee, you can also have your Google+ picture displayed on Google search result page whenever your article becomes listed as one of the search results. For example, Melody Rhodes is one our authors and contributors who has published several articles on HowToee. Her articles receive traffic from Google. If you google for How to Write a Pillar Article or Write a Pillar Article, you will see one of the Melody’s HowToee articles listed on Google search result. You can also see that Melody’s picture is displayed at the left side of the listing:

There are a few very simple things that you have to do to make Google display your Google+ photo next to your HowToee articles listings on Google search result pages:

1. If you do not have a Google+ account, first you should sign up for one. It is free.

2. Login to your HowToee account and add your Google+ profile URL to your HowToee profile. Your Google+ profile URL is the URL appeared on your internet browser address bar when you are visiting your Google+ profile home page. It has such a format:

3. Login to your Google+ account, click on the “Profile” icon at the top right side of the page, click on the “About” tab, and then click on “Edit profile” button. Then enter your HowToee author page URL. You can simply file your HowToee author page URL by clicking on your name on one of your articles pages. This is what Melody has done also:

You are done. To test if everything is done properly, you should refer to Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool and enter one of your HowToee articles URLs, and click on the preview button. If Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool displays your Google+ photo at the right side, and can recognize you as the publisher/author of the article, it means everything is done properly. Of course you will not see your Google+ photo on Google search result pages right away. It takes at least a few days for Google to update its index and show you as the author of the articles you have written.

If you are faced with any difficulties in doing the above stages, please let me know by leaving a comment here on this page, and I will be happy to help.
